Position Overview
We are currently seeking experienced TIG / Flux Core Welders to join a leading fabrication company in Joplin, MO . The TIG / Flux Core Welder will be responsible for laying out, aligning, and welding a wide range of fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble machinery frames, pressure vessels, tanks, and structural assemblies. This position offers steady work, competitive pay, and the opportunity for long-term placement or direct hire.
Key Responsibilities
• Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine job layouts and weld sequences.
• Lay out, fit, align, and weld components for frames, piping systems, and structural shapes.
• Operate multiple welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Flux Core (FCAW).
• Weld in multiple positions —2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and 6G—according to job requirements.
• Set up and adjust welding equipment to specified amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse settings.
• Clean and prepare weld joints , removing slag and defects as needed using grinders or carbon arc gouging.
• Inspect welds visually and dimensionally for quality, ensuring compliance with company and code standards.
• Work safely and efficiently while maintaining clean work areas.
Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of professional welding experience in fabrication or manufacturing.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Flux Core processes; ability to pass a weld test.
• Experience welding in all positions (2G–6G).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of metal characteristics, weld symbols, and standard practices.
• Technical certification or NCCER credentials preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Capable of certifying on multi-process pipe and producing x-ray quality welds.
• Familiarity with SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
