Registered Nurse – Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Travel Assignment) Location: Lexington, KY Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3×12 Nights Pay: $2,228.40/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) Job Description ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Lexington, Kentucky. The RN will provide expert-level critical care to patients with acute neurological and neurosurgical conditions, including strokes, craniotomies, and post-thoracic surgeries. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, advanced airway and hemodynamic management skills, and the ability to manage complex patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure. This is a high-acuity environment that requires a confident, detail-oriented nurse who thrives under pressure and values teamwork in critical care. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neurological, neurosurgical, and post-surgical patients.
• Monitor and interpret neurological, cardiovascular, and hemodynamic parameters, including arterial lines, ICP monitoring, and ABG interpretation.
• Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation, IV sedation, and vasoactive drip titration.
• Care for post-neurosurgical patients including craniotomies, carotid endarterectomies (CEAs), and craniectomies.
• Provide care for patients with acute ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, including pre- and post-intervention management (TNK administration, thrombectomy, or stent placement).
• Administer medications, manage central lines, and monitor continuous infusions (sedation, vasopressors, cardiac drips).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, respiratory therapists, and physical therapy—to coordinate individualized patient care.
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control, isolation precautions, and hospital safety standards.
• Document accurately and efficiently using Epic EMR.
• Float as needed to other ICU or telemetry units (max 2 patients in ICU or 3 in telemetry).
• Work 3–4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday) per facility rotation requirements.

Qualifications

• Active Kentucky RN license or Compact State RN license (required).
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience, including 1.5+ years in a Neuro ICU (required).
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required).
• Strong Neuro experience required (must be clearly reflected in work history).
• Proficiency in airway management, mechanical ventilation, CRRT, arterial line and central line care, and titration of IV drips.
• Ability to manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and post-cardiac arrest care.
• Previous travel experience required.
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and team collaboration skills.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
