Position Title: General Accountant

Location: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 2–3 days in office, Tuesday/Wednesday preferred)

Assignment Type: Contract (3-month assignment with potential to extend)

Compensation: $35–45/hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description

Addison Group is seeking a General Accountant for a leading financial institution headquartered in the Reston, VA area. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong technical skills, a high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment. You will support a collaborative Accounting Manager and help maintain accurate financial reporting during a period of organizational transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with accounts payable processing, coding, and verification.
• Record and track monthly accruals, journal entries, and adjustments.
• Prepare reconciliations, trial balances, and variance analyses.
• Support monthly and year-end close processes in compliance with GAAP.
• Assist in preparing financial reporting schedules and documentation for audits.
• Collaborate with accounting, finance, and operations teams to ensure data integrity.
• Maintain organized records and assist in internal control and compliance initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3–5 years of experience in general accounting, including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and standard accounting practices.
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) required.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or NetSuite preferred.
• Proven reliability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team in a hybrid environment.
• Prior experience in financial services or a regulated industry is a plus.
