Tax Provision Manager

Overview

A leading professional services firm is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Provision Manager to join its dynamic Corporate Tax Practice. This role is a critical position and a direct pathway to Partner or Managing Director, requiring a professional with deep expertise in corporate income tax and ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes (Tax Provision) . The Senior Manager will play a key role in managing client relationships, leading engagement teams, and driving innovative tax strategies.

The position offers an annual performance-based bonus and requires a minimum of two days per week in the office .

Key Responsibilities

• Engagement Leadership & Execution: Plan, execute, direct, and complete complex tax projects across a wide variety of industries, focusing on business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting (provision preparation or audit support).

• Tax Expertise: Provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance expertise to clients. Conduct primary and secondary review of complicated corporate tax returns and ASC 740 income tax provision engagements . Research and consult on various complex tax matters.

• Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary service team contact, maintaining strong working relationships with client management and staff at all levels.

• Team Development & Mentorship: Supervise, manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on client engagements, providing coaching and conducting performance assessments.

• Business Development: Support the growth and profitability of the practice by identifying opportunities to expand services to existing and potential clients.

Required Qualifications & Must-Haves

• Experience: Minimum four to seven years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.

• Certification: Active CPA or JD/active law license is required.

• Technical Skills: Deep experience in corporate income tax and strong ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes (Tax Provision) skills are mandatory.

• Firm Background: Must have recent experience working for a Top 15 accounting firm in recent years.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

• Work Arrangement: Willingness to work in a hybrid environment , with a minimum requirement of two days per week in the office in the Cincinnati/Cleveland, OH region.

• Location: Must currently reside in the region or be willing to relocate regionally (relocation assistance is available).

• Sponsorship: No visa sponsorship is available for this position.

• Industry Experience (Open to): Manufacturing, technology, pharma, food and beverage, consulting, engineering firms, telecomm, or transportation & distribution.

Preferred and Nice-to-Have Skills

• Public accounting or professional services experience.

• Proficiency with ONESOURCE Tax Provision software.

• A stable career history (ideally, avoiding job changes every 1-2 years).

• Master's degree in Taxation or LLM in Taxation.
