Industrial Tank Cleaning Technician

Job Description:
The Tank Cleaning Technician will clean the interior and exterior of storage tanks, processing tanks, pipes and ducting, using manual and powered tools.


Summary of Essential Job Functions:
  • To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Additional duties may also be assigned.
  • Remove and properly dispose of liquid and solid material and material build-up from industrial storage containers (tanks, vessels, mixers, etc.) and material conveyance systems (piping, ducting, pumps, valves, etc.).
  • Operate powered tools such as power-washers, jack-hammers, air-chisels, etc.
  • Drive and operate various powered industrial trucks.
  • Use various manual tools such as scrapers, shovels, squeegees, brooms, etc.
  • Assist team members in daily operations.
  • Perform housekeeping and safety-related tasks (i.e., job-site cleanup).
  • Maintain personal and company tools and equipment in a serviceable and clean condition (i.e., jackhammers, pressure washers).


Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience is preferred.
  • Travel up to 75%.
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License, Clear Background and MVR, and Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Successfully complete drug screen, pre-employment physical and all required background checks.
  • Strong Knowledge in the operation of equipment used in tank cleaning preferred but not required.
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimal knowledge of hazardous waste preferred but not required.
  • Ability to travel and work on-call basis.
  • Reliable transportation.


Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • The employee is regularly required to move around various plant facilities, operate both manual and powered tools, and position self to clean storage tanks, processing tanks, pipes, and ducting.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, confined spaces, fumes and airborne particles, outside weather conditions, including extreme cold and extreme heat, and vibration. Use of a respirator may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
