Scope of Position The Ohio State University is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Clinical Quality & Patient Safety Coordinator will assist in identifying and facilitating opportunities for improvement in the delivery of patient care related to clinical care, patient safety and resource utilization outcomes. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with medical and healthcare system staff to ensure safe and effective care, and results-oriented project outcomes. Position Summary Clinical Quality and Patient Safety works with staff to improve the quality of health care services across the Comprehensive Transplant Center. Collaborates with clinical staff to review current practices in order to improve patient outcomes and enhance safety. Analyzes and identifies trends from adverse-event reports. Evaluates, coordinates and integrates clinical quality improvement initiatives and goals within the health system. Utilizes a variety of continuous quality improvement tools and resources to evaluate clinical data and practice patterns and evaluates clinical resource utilization as a means to improve practices across the health system. May develop training programs with emphasis on improvement of outcomes and patient safety; trains and consults staff on use of quality management techniques. May help facilitate the peer review process in accordance with hospital bylaws. Performs medical record reviews and data entry for multiple data elements for the purpose of submission to the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR), the national deceased donor registry, and other mandatory transplant registries to meet regulatory requirements and support quality initiatives.
