These aren't just words; they are the guiding principles that shape every interaction and decision, empowering you to make a profound impact every day.

As a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) at YNHHS, you'll step into a highly respected role as a licensed professional provider, working in close collaboration with attending physicians across diverse practice settings. You'll deliver exceptional direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care , upholding the highest organizational standards as an integral member of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team. We champion a patient-centric environment that honors the whole individual, addressing their physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and functional needs, as well as those of their families and loved ones. In this pivotal position, you'll be the focal point for continuity of care, leveraging your expertise to proactively address and resolve challenges within your scope of practice and specialty-specific standards.

Your Impact & Responsibilities

1. Clinical Excellence

  • As an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, you'll provide comprehensive assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient and family needs throughout the entire disease process.

  • Whether in inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient settings, you'll deliver optimal patient care , from diagnostic insights to prognostic guidance. You'll work in close collaboration with supervising/collaborating physicians, adhering to state law, hospital regulations, policies, protocols, and clinical pathways. In some specialties, you may even provide autonomous, team-based care , truly shaping patient outcomes.

  • Your responsibilities will include taking detailed medical histories, performing thorough physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results, and formulating and managing comprehensive patient treatment plans.

  • You'll have the authority to perform procedures and prescribe treatment and medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines, as well as specialty-specific and professional competency standards. In certain clinical areas, you'll experience the autonomy of managing specific patient populations.

  • For those with the prerequisite training and skills, you may also function as a first or second assistant on operative cases, utilizing your fine motor skills and manual dexterity to contribute directly to surgical success.

  • Beyond these core duties, your role may evolve with departmental and operational goals, responding to the dynamic needs of our patients, including emergency situations within YNHHS parameters.

2. Patient Empowerment & Holistic Support

  • You'll play a crucial role in educating patients and their families , providing clarity on care plans, recommended resources, admitting instructions, treatment side effects, and discharge plans, all in collaboration with the supervising/collaborating MD.

  • As part of a compassionate multidisciplinary team, you'll extend essential psychosocial support to patients, their family members, and significant others, always upholding the highest ethical and professional standards.

3. Information Integrity

  • You'll ensure meticulous and appropriate documentation, adhering to all hospital and regulatory requirements. We trust you to protect sensitive information across all formats – digital, paper, film, or voice – safeguarding it from any unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure.

4. Commitment to Quality

  • We expect and support you in demonstrating the highest standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to patient care.

  • You'll be instrumental in ensuring compliance with all patient-related healthcare regulatory requirements, standards, and recommendations, contributing directly to our culture of safety and excellence.

5. Professional Growth & Leadership

  • We believe in continuous learning. You'll be actively engaged in projects that maintain and advance your professional competency , fostering a culture of lifelong development.

  • You'll serve as a clinical resource for new house staff , providing invaluable service-specific orientation to enhance their clinical education.

  • Your commitment to high reliability organizational behaviors will be evident through consistent reporting of safety events and near misses, actively contributing to a safer environment for everyone.

  • Beyond personal growth, you'll have opportunities to serve as a clinical preceptor for NP/PA students and other healthcare professionals, and even as a mentor to pre-PA/NP candidates , shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders.

  • For those with an interest in advancing medical knowledge, you may collaborate on research, quality assurance, and performance improvement projects, and contribute to the formation of protocols that will elevate clinical practice and expand your expertise.
